Safe, environmentally friendly and cost-efficient rail vehicles, together with a sustainable and reliable railway infrastructure: VIRTUAL VEHICLE experts have been focusing on extensive research in this area for more than ten years.

The department “Rail Systems” dedicates its comprehensive system knowledge to actual challenges within the rail system. Being part or the European collaborative research initiative Shift2Rail our research is linked to the big players in railway industry.

_Modelling vehicle and track dynamics
_Simulation of loads and wear damage in the context of vehicle-track interaction _Analysis of the whole system by integrating pre-existing know-how for model develop-ment _Model development and application in collab-oration with our rail research team
_Coordination and independent handling of EU-Projects
_Cooperation with big players in railway indus-try
_Publication of your results (journals/paper, meetings, conferences…)

_Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, rail vehicle technology or similar
_Strong interest in system dynamics and vehi-cle-track Interaction
_‘Big Picture’ – Mentality necessary
_Significant programming skills (preferably Matlab, Python)
_Ability to work both in a team and independ-ent
_Excellent language skills in English (German would be of value also)
_Professional experience in rail vehicle engi-neering is of advantage

The minimum annual salary, depending on qualification and clas-sification, is EUR 40.600, - gross. An overpayment is possible and depends on qualification and the present special experience (Jun-ior Researcher or Senior Researcher)
